Adaptive Technologies

Scene 1
Students have many different learning styles. Every single student is in some way different. Some students may have to learn by auditory lessons. These learners learn the best from reading text aloud and using a tape recorder. There are many different types of activities you can find to help you in the different learning styles of your students. I was just using the auditory learning style as an example since it was being talked about in the article.

Scene 2
To find someone to be comfortable with is sometimes hard to do. The teacher has found someone that she is comfortable with and can help her improve her lessons to help her students. Marilyn talked about what she wanted and Juanita came up with what to do. Juanita's lessons help her class and they always include Oscar's needs. This can also show how students can be comfortable in coming up and asking their teachers things when they are in need.

Scene 3
Marilyn's use of a graphic organizer is a great idea. This will enhance her lesson a lot. The students will be working together which most students like to work together. Also, the graphic organizer is to break down everything. It shows a clearer picture to the students. When things are broken down it helps students understand better. She had her students label the characters, setting, problem, solution, and virtue on their graphic organizers. The use of the graphic organizer will help Oscar because he is an auditory learner. He will be able to hear what is on the the graphic organizer instead of just having to read it if one was already done.

Scene 4
Using the Web to locate information is sometimes confusing and hard. You have to know exactly what you are looking for or else weird things come up and you have no idea what to click on. Your subject you look for cannot be too broad or that won't work either. Difficulties that might be addressed by using a Web Quest could be like any other website. Some students may not be able to access the Web Quest from outside the classroom. Inside the classroom may be their only way of getting access to the Internet.

Scene 5
The students benefited from being with Oscar that day, they also benefited from learning about the Eric Carle books, and learning from Juanita. Students will always benefit from being with other students and learning different things. All of the students achieved so much from this day. Juanita had tiered a certain part of the lesson and targeted the other four students with different levels of books. Oscar's speech was a phenomena this day. No, I do not think Oscar's experience would have been as powerful if he would have worked in isolation with Juanita. Most of the time, these kids who have ailments, are kept in isolation. I think they should be included every now and then with the lessons. It does make a difference to the student when he or she is around other students. They do know the difference.

Scene 6
Marilyn seems to always have her students up and running. Her students had the Web Quest down pat by now and were using it to find some data about and author/artist. They answered questions to a video from Eric Carle. Now her students have to publish a book in the spirit of Eric Carle that would incorporate the wild animals and habitats in science. Then her students created a "dummy book." Her students also created an iMovie. Her students were very excited and anxious to do this.
